The Palladium at Velachery is Chennai's luxury shopping landmark, housing international ultra-luxury brands across multiple levels. Centered around an expansive multi-story natural skylit atrium, the project required intricate architectural steel fabrication and stainless steel finishes.
Architectural Expression & Spatial Dynamics
The mall design balances luxury European retail grandeur with cutting-edge environmental architecture. The central atrium skylight spans 40 meters, flooding the interior corridors with diffused daylight through high-strength tubular space trusses.
Structural Rigor & Critical Environmental Criteria
Complex Geometric Dome Curvature: Curved structural tubular rafters had to be roll-bent without ovalization or wall thinning to maintain glass seal integrity.
High Footfall Balustrade Loads: Interior multi-level atrium balustrades were engineered to withstand 1.5 kN/m crowd horizontal thrusts with Grade 316 stainless steel.
